Bishkek, Dec.25, 2019. /Kabar/. At the final press conference at the Ala-Archa state residence, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov said the work has been done to improve the investment climate in the country.
“A temporary ban on inspections of new enterprises has been introduced for 2 years. The institution of the Business Ombudsman for the protection of entrepreneurial rights has been introduced. An information system for the electronic registration of legal entities has also been introduced. The project on electronic notary has been put into operation in Bishkek. Within the framework of the project on fiscal tax procedures, such tools as an electronic patent, an electronic invoice and online cash registers have been introduced," the President said.
He also said that enterprises engaged in importing technological equipment are exempt from customs duties.
“Today there are a lot of discussions around the issue of investment outflow, which amounted to $513.5 million, including the payment of dividends to investors, but the amount of investments coming to the country, $577 million, should be also taken into account. The balance between inflow and outflow of investments has a positive balance and makes up $63.3 million," Jeenbekov said.
According to the President’s data, as a result, last year the volume of foreign investment has been increased by 38%.
"The volume of investment flows for the first 9 months of 2019 has increased by 67.3%, compared to 2018, and their total amount made $577 million. 61% of investments has gone to the regions of the country. At the same time, special attention is paid to export promotion. 12 out of 14 checkpoints have been upgraded with technical assistance from the Russian Federation, $142.5 million was spent for it,” President Jeenbekov added.
The Kyrgyz leader said the technical equipment of Torugart, Irkeshtam, Karamyk, Kyzyl-Bel, Kairagach and Kyzyl-Kiya checkpoints has been completed.
"By the end of 2020, the reconstruction of Dostuk and Bor-Dyobyo checkpoints will be completed. In total, works on construction of veterinary and phytosanitary laboratories, their repair and equipping have been carried out at a cost of KGS 562 million. Four veterinary laboratories have been built and commissioned in Talas, Karakol, Batken and Balykchy. This year, Kyrgyzstan's veterinary control system has been recognized as equivalent by Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) member states.
As a result of the above efforts, the volume of exports has increased. The number of enterprises exporting agricultural products to EurAsEC countries has increased five times. While in 2017 the number of enterprises was 21, today the number has exceeded 100. This year, the temporary veterinary restriction, imposed by Russia in 2007, has been eliminated. We have also reached an agreement on exporting some goods to the People's Republic of China," the President said.
Jeenbekov also said in 2019 the volume of goods exported from Kyrgyzstan to China increased by 25 percent.
The Kyrgyz President’s press conference took place today, Dec. 25 at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek.
A total of 188 journalists have been accredited for the event.
Of these, 160 journalists are from 77 national media and 28 journalists - from 15 foreign media, accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Note that this is the second press conference of Sooronbay Jeenbekov as the President.
