Bishkek, Dec.25, 2019. /Kabar/. At his second press conference, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov answered questions about freedom of speech and hacker attacks on websites.
“I’m aware of information about hacker attacks on websites. This is not only happening in Kyrgyzstan, but also in other more developed countries. We need to fight it. The issue of fighting cybersecurity and protecting the citizens' database is the responsibility of the Security Council," he said.
Further, Jeenbekov shared his views on pressure on the media and freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan.
"There is no such freedom of speech anywhere as in Kyrgyzstan. Journalists in Kyrgyzstan write what they want and what they see. We will develop only with a strong parliament, civil society and media. I always support the media, but freedom of speech is also a big responsibility. We need to understand it and feel it. The most important thing is that we must learn to respect the law, and freedom must be used correctly," the President said, and emphasized he always supports freedom of speech.
Note that the second press conference of the President was held at the Ala-Archa stare residence.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov answered the questions of media representatives and summed up the results of the year. The event was covered by 188 journalists from state and foreign media.
