Bishkek, Jan.21, 2020. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov received on Tuesday Chairman of the country’s National Statistics Committee Akylbek Sultanov.
Information was provided on current activities, measures to improve the national statistical system and priority plans for the near future.
Akylbek Sultanov also told about the preparation for the population census in the country in 2020 in the framework of the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States “On conducting population 2020 census round in the CIS member states".
In Kyrgyzstan it will be conducted from March 23 to April 1, in remote areas from April 20 to 29.
For the purpose of testing, paper and e-censuses were conducted three times in the pilot mode in Chui Oblast, Issyk-Kul Oblast and Osh city.
Chairman Sultanov said about 25,000 people will be involved in the entire period of preparation and collection of data.
In total, more than 500 census departments and about 4,000 stations will be created throughout Kyrgyzstan.
President Jeenbekov stressed the need for quality data collection on the population and processing of the data.
He noted the census will give a real picture of the social and economic situation of the country's citizens, give an assessment and identify gaps in the implementation of government policy in various areas.
The Kyrgyz leader once again stressed the need to ensure full transition of the collection and processing of statistical data into electronic format.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening the work on forming relevant statistical data on the social and economic situation of the country's regions.
