Bishkek, April 16, 2021 . / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov received on Friday Chairman of the Board of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) Aziz Aaliyev.
The Fund's current activities and priority plans for 2021 were discussed, as well as an information was provided on the amount of funding for projects and issuance of soft loans in 2020, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.
Aziz Aaliyev reported the Fund approved 475 projects worth $53.6 million by the end of 2020.
As of April 1, 2021, 2,926 projects worth $434 million have been approved since the beginning of the Fund’s activities.
The chairman of the RKDF Board said that in 2020, the Fund developed programs to support cluster initiatives in agriculture, 3 packages of anti-crisis measures for small and medium-sized businesses, implemented and financed by the Fund. A preferential funding for companies whose activities are aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection was also approved.
It was noted that 54% of funding came to the projects in the sphere of production, agro-industrial complex and processing of agricultural products.
President Zhaparov stressed that since its establishment, the RKDF has made a significant contribution to the development of the country's economy, becoming an important tool in the process of Kyrgyzstan's integration into the Eurasian Economic Union.
He emphasized that this year, the activities of the Fund should be focused on the expansion of production and agro-industrial complex. Most of the preferential loans should go to support export-oriented enterprises and cluster projects.
The Kyrgyz leader noted the existing demand for som (Kyrgyz national currency) resources from entrepreneurs, adding that in the current economic conditions support of the real sector is one of the priorities.
