Bishkek, Feb.25, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Feb. 25 President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov received Director of the State Agency for Local-Self Government and Inter-Ethnic Relations (SALSGIR) Bakhtiyar Saliyev, his press service said.
Jeenbekov familiarized himself with the current activities of local government bodies and the preparations for the second “The Kyrgyz Republic: National Dialogue on Regional Development” Forum, to be held in March this year.
The first Forum was held in February 2019.
The second Forum is also expected to be attended by representatives of local self-government bodies from all over the country, entrepreneurs from the regions, donor organizations and the non-governmental sector.
Thematic sessions will be divided into three main areas in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on declaring 2020 the Year of Regional Development, Digitalization of the Country and Support for Children.
Saliyev emphasized that in order to increase the efficiency of work of local government bodies (LGB) and automate the process of providing public services to the population, the Sanarip Aimak (Digital Region) project was launched in a pilot mode in 8 LGBs.
By the end of this year the project is planned to be fully implemented in 484 LGBs of the country.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov particularly noted “The Kyrgyz Republic: National Dialogue on Regional Development” Forum is intended to become an effective platform for an effective dialogue between the central and local authorities.
As a result of the discussions, the program documents and plans on regional development should be updated.
The Kyrgyz leader stressed that the central and local authorities should jointly take prompt measures to address regional development issues.
At the same time, Jeenbekov drew special attention to the importance of completing the process of digitization of local government activities.
