President Sadyr Zhaparov deliveres speech at Turkic Council Summit in Istanbul

Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2021 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov takes part in the Turkic Council Summit (Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS), which is being held on the Island of Democracy and Freedom near Istanbul, Turkey, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.

Speaking at the summit, the Kyrgyz president noted that the 8th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states is being held in the historic year of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Turkic-speaking states.

Zhaparov, positively appreciating the Turkic Council, emphasized that it is actively recognized by the world community and has become the most important and prestigious platform for the integration of Turkic-speaking countries.

“Therefore, Kyrgyzstan fully supports the renaming of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States into the Organization of Turkic States,” he said.

In this regard, President Zhaparov said that the Kyrgyz side fully supports the strategic document "Vision of the Turkic World - 2040", prepared on the initiative of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Kyrgyz president expressed hope that the Organization of Turkic States will become a good platform in the international arena for discussing political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, social and humanitarian issues, as well as open up great opportunities for improving cooperation and multilateral relations.

Sadyr Zhaparov stressing the role of the Turkish Investment Fund, that was created at the initiative of the Turkic Council, said that it has become a real instrument of economic relations and plays an important role as a mechanism for the implementation of bilateral and multilateral projects.

Given the absence of offices of the institutions of the Turkic Council in Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov proposed to locate this financial institution in Bishkek. “The location of the fund in the capital of Kyrgyzstan has not only financial but also political significance. Kyrgyzstan is one of the founders of the Turkic Council. The main documents of our Council attach great importance to the observance and respect of equality,” he said.

In addition, President Zhaparov said that Kyrgyzstan fully supports the inclusion by the fraternal Turkish side of the hotly debated topic “Green technologies and smart cities in the digital age” on the agenda.

“This is because we need to make full use of green technologies and digitalization in order to fully rebuild the economy as a result of climate change and the pandemic, which are one of the most pressing issues today,” he noted.

Zhaparov also expressed the Kyrgyz side’s interest in further developing cooperation in attracting direct investments in energy, the construction of hydroelectric power plants and the development of renewable energy sources and readiness to discuss the participation of all interested countries in this area.

He also expressed hope the initiatives of Kyrgyzstan on the sustainable development of mountainous countries and the impact of climate change will be supported by the fraternal Turkic states as its solution is possible only through the use of the country's potential and the full implementation of regional cooperation.

The Kyrgyz president also voiced concern due to the events in Afghanistan, which cause a concern in Central Asia.

Taking into account the current situation, Sadyr Zhaparov offered the Turkic world and the international community as a whole the idea of ​​creating a platform “Central Asia - Territory of the World”.

“Central Asia is the world leader in demographic development. Since time immemorial, our ancestors have valued the principle of living in peace and harmony, tolerance. We want to see our region as a territory of peace, brotherhood and good neighborliness,” he added.

Concluding his speech President Sadyr Zhaparov stressed that Kyrgyzstan is an inseparable part of the Turkic world. “Kyrgyzstan will continue to take an active part in the relations and brotherhood of the Turkic world and will make a significant contribution to the development of integration processes in the Turkic states,” he said.
