Close cooperation between CSTO member states is necessary to maintain peace, international and regional security, President Zhaparov

"The development of the situation in the world and the region requires the unification of efforts not only in the fight against security threats, but also in maintaining peace and stability. In this regard, the decision of the Collective Security Council "On further strengthening allied relations within the CSTO" testifies to the common desire to further build cooperation in the spirit of alliance," President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said todayspeaking at the regular session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in a narrow format, held in Astana.

During the session, current issues of international and regional security were discussed, as well as the main results of the CSTO activities in the intersessional period.

President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that against the backdrop of global geopolitical transformations, close cooperation between the CSTO member states is necessary to maintain peace, international and regional security. He stressed that joint efforts can achieve significant results in strengthening the Organization's potential.

During the meeting, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Imangali Tasmagambetov also spoke.

The CSTO chairmanship in 2025 will be moved to Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan.
