President Sadyr Zhaparov to take part in Climate Summit in Glasgow

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov will pay a working visit to Glasgow (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) on Nov. 1-2 to take part in the opening of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and deliver a message at the Summit of leaders, according to the press service of the head of state.

In addition, on the sidelines of the Summit, the President Zhaparov will hold meetings with his foreign counterparts, heads of international climate organizations and multilateral development banks.

The 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP 26) will be held from October 31 to November 12, 2021 at the Scottish Convention Center in Glasgow. Organizers - Great Britain together with Italy.

The Conference of the Parties, known as the COP, is the decision-making body responsible for monitoring and reviewing the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It brings together 197 countries and territories called Parties that have acceded to the Framework Convention. The COP has been meeting annually since 1995. The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21), which took place in Paris, France in December 2015, was historic in its final result - the first international climate agreement.
