President urges Jogorku Kenesh to adopt amendments to election legislation timely

Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2018 / Kabar /. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the country Dastanbek Dzhumabekov. The meeting was held on the occasion of the beginning of the session of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

An exchange of views took place on improving the legislation, socio-economic and socio-political development of the country.

Jeenbekov stated that the Jogorku Kenesh has a package of laws that should be considered as a matter of priority. Among them is the draft of the republican budget for the next year. And also it is necessary to provide legislative support to the government on preparations for the autumn-winter period for 2018-2019.

In addition, the president noted the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the rules in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

"All changes must be clarified and made no later than one year before the election date and after the "rules of the game"should not change," Jeenbekov said urging the parliament to consider and adopt amendments to the electoral legislation in a timely manner.

The President stressed the need for creative and coordinated work of all branches of power for the development of the state and for the well-being of the people of Kyrgyzstan.

Dastanbek Dzhumabekov noted that the profile committees of the parliament and deputy commissions resumed their work. This week, parliamentary sessions will begin.

"The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan is ready to work for the entire next period of session of the Jogorku Kenesh," Dzhumabekov stressed.
