President Zhaparov arrives at Olympic Stadium in Baku to attend UNFCCC COP29

Bishkek, Nov.12, 2024. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov has arrived at the Olympic Stadium in Baku (Azerbaijan) to participate in the opening ceremony of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Participants of the event will discuss measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, climate finance, technological innovations in the energy sector, education of the younger generation and support for youth initiatives aimed at combating climate change.

More than 50,000 people are attending the conference, including leaders from more than 100 nations.

Heads of delegations to the event were welcomed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

After completion of the welcoming ceremony and joint photographing, heads of delegations moved to the conference hall to participate in the opening ceremony of the World Leaders Summit on Climate Action.

Further, the Kyrgyz leader will deliver a national statement at the high-level segment of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
