Bishkek, Sept. 23, 2022 / Kabar /. President Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan on September 23 - the Day of the State Language of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“The Kyrgyz language is the basis of national identity, the core of our national value, the source of our spiritual food. This is a precious heritage left to us by our ancestors, and it is our duty to pass it on to future generations. The preservation of the language and its development is the same duty as the protection of the state and independence, because independence and language are inseparable concepts,” the president said.

The head of state noted that the first efforts to achieve the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic began with the movement to save the native language, after which, in the late 80s of the last century, the status of the state language was legally assigned to the Kyrgyz language.

The president emphasized that the language develops only when it is used. During the years of independence, a lot of work has been done in the development of the state language, but there is still more to come.

“In our society, they still cannot get rid of the indifferent and biased attitude towards the Kyrgyz language. Therefore, to be an example, we are now seriously approaching the issue of the state language and pay special attention to ensuring that the official document flow is conducted in the state language. All state and municipal employees pass a special test in the state language. These requirements will grow and appropriate measures will be taken,” Zhaparov stressed.

He noted that the state language should become an important factor ensuring interethnic harmony.

“Steps aimed at turning the state language into the language of interethnic communication and strengthening the unity of our people should not remain only in declarative documents. I urge everyone to honestly serve our language and people,” the president said.
