President Zhaparov familiarizes with condition of Bishkek Thermal Power Plant

Bishkek, Aug. 13, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov visited on Friday Bishkek Thermal Power Plant (TPP), his press service said Friday.

During the visit, the Kyrgyz leader was informed that the construction project of Bishkek TPP-2was developed in 1991. The project was planned to use environmentally friendly fuel - natural gas - as the main fuel. The construction of the power plant was to be carried out in two stages on a territory of more than 100 hectares.

However, in connection with the collapse of the USSR and interruptions in gas supply, the construction of the object was suspended, and the sanitary zone of Bishkek TPP with an area of 47 hectares was gradually built up with individual houses.

It is proposed to resume the construction of TPP-2, completed within 2-5 years, bringing its capacity to 460 MW. In the future, the additional capacity will provide uninterrupted power supply to new subscribers of Bishkek, the number of which is constantly growing.

In the near future it is planned to announce a tender for the development of a pre-feasibility study for the rehabilitation of TPP-2.

Sadyr Zhaparov inspected the building and equipment of Bishkek TPP-2, and then talked with residents of the housing estate formed near this strategic facility.

The head of state told the residents about the intentions to complete the construction of the power plant, the planned measures for transparent parliamentary elections, and urged citizens to be actively vaccinated against coronavirus infection.
