Bishkek, June 8, 2022. /Kabar/. As part of his working trip to Jalal-Abad Oblast, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met with residents of Toktogul region, his press service said.

After the ceremony of the start of construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, the president held a conversation with local residents and answered their questions of concern. In particular, Zhaparov emphasized that the construction of the HPP is a project which in perspective will work for the good of Kyrgyz people, state and its future generations.

"During the years of independence, not a single hydroelectric power plant has been built, except for Kambar-Ata-2. Meanwhile, over the past 10 years, the number of electricity consumers has doubled. And if earlier in the Soviet times we were exporting, since the collapse of the USSR we have been importing electricity for 10-15 years. Now you have witnessed the launch of such a large-scale project as the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric power plant. This project and a number of other small projects, which are being implemented in the country, was started due to the fact that a year ago the Kumtor mine started working fully for the benefit of the country. With this money the construction of Kambar-Ata-1 HPP started," Sadyr Zhaparov noted.

The Kyrgyz leader also spoke about plans to build the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad. To date, the feasibility study of the project is underway. If this process is completed by the fall, the construction of the road will begin next year. This road will be completed in three to four years if the three countries work together. Income will be no less than from Kambar-Ata-1 and Kumtor, amounting to no less than $200 million.

The president also answered the questions of local residents on the transformation of land for the construction of houses, asphalting of roads, providing access to irrigation and drinking water, compensation for lands flooded by the reservoir, construction of kindergartens and schools, etc.

Relevant state bodies were given instructions on the spot to solve the issues raised by residents of the region.
