Bishkek, July 20, 2024 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov accompanied by Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Ichan-Kala Reserve State Historical and Architectural Museum and Nurillaboy Palace in Khiva.
The presidents and their spouses visited Ichan-Kala complex (Inner Fortress), which is called "open-air museum". Ichan-Kala is the only preserved monument city in Central Asia. More than 120 architectural monuments are located here. The State Historical and Architectural Museum Reserve Ichan-Kala has 14 stationary museums.
In 1990, the city of Khiva was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and in 1997 it celebrated its 2500th anniversary. In 2020 the city was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world, in 2024 - the tourist capital of the Islamic world.
The Nurillaboy Palace Museum was built in the early 20th century. The complex includes madrasahs, more than 100 rooms connected by galleries. The front halls are decorated with fireplaces, Venetian mirrors and bronze gilded chandeliers with crystal pendants. The whole complex is enclosed by a high wall over 650 meters long with traditional Khiva towers.
