Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan should be held on November 19, CEC

Bishkek, April 18 / Kabar /. The presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic should be held on November 19, the press service of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan reported.

“Some deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament declared in media that the presidential election should be held on August 27, 2017. Such statements mislead the public as," the report said.

The CEC also reported that the date of the presidential elections of the Kyrgyz Republic is guided by the Constitution and the Constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic".

Under the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic the President is elected for 6 years by citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan are held on the third Sunday of November of the year, when the term of office of the President expires and the date is set by the Jogorku Kenesh no later than 4 months before the election day.

The previous presidential elections were held On October 30, 2011. The six-year term of office of the current President of the Kyrgyz Republic expires in 2017. In accordance with the Constitutional Law - on the third Sunday of November 2017, i.е. November 19 should be held the presidential elections of the Kyrgyz Republic," the report said.
