Bishkek, Sept. 19, 2023. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York (USA), met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, the press service of the head of state reported.
The leaders of the countries discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas of interaction.
The president of Iran noted that there are good opportunities and high potential between the countries to take bilateral relations to a new level. Speaking about the current volume of trade turnover, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi noted its low level, and therefore proposed to make every effort to increase it. In this context, he noted the importance of intensifying the work of the bilateral joint Intergovernmental Commission.
Sadyr Zhaparov, in turn, expressed his readiness to continue constant political dialogue and interaction at all levels, as well as to further strengthen Kyrgyz-Iranian cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The head of state supported the initiative of the president of Iran to deepen trade and economic cooperation between the countries, attaching great importance to investment interaction.
In this context, Sadyr Zhaparov noted the need to resolve the issue of logistics, emphasizing the importance of the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. This project will provide new opportunities in trade and economic terms.
In addition, the Kyrgyz president outlined the important role of the activities of the Kyrgyz-Iranian intergovernmental joint commission and proposed holding the next meeting of the Commission in Bishkek before the end of this year.
Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated the president of Iran on receiving the status of a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and emphasized with satisfaction the active cooperation of Iran with all member states of the Organization.
Taking this opportunity, the heads of state invited each other to visit Kyrgyzstan and Iran at a time convenient for them.
