Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to discuss delimitation of state border

Bishkek, Jan. 31, 2018 / Kabar /. Within the framework of the official visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Tajikistan, bilateral negotiations will be held on delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, chief of the Foreign Policy Department of the President's Office Aizada Subakozhoeva told.

Subakozhoeva said that at present 519 km of the state border territory have already been described. Thus during the forthcoming visit of the Kyrgyz President to Tajikistan, negotiations will be held to intensify the work on the remaining sites. However, the chief of the Foreign Policy Department stressed that so far there will be no signing of documents on the border issues. She explained that, for the beginning, the sides need to activate the negotiations and then carry out careful work to agree on the text of the treaty.

Another important issue of the talks will be the revitalization of the High Inter-Coordination Council, the Council of Foreign Ministers, as well as the Intergovernmental Commissions for Integrated Bilateral Cooperation and the Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border activities.
