Presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland discuss prospects for co-op in all areas

Bishkek, Sept. 21, 2022 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met with President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis on the margins of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York (USA).

They discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest for the countries, as well as the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.

Regarding environmental cooperation, Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to adaptation to climate change and increasing stability at all levels.

He noted that like in Switzerland, the melting of glaciers in Kyrgyzstan will undoubtedly affect the water-energy balance of the whole region and will affect the socio-political situation in Central Asian countries.

Speaking about the situation on the border, the Kyrgyz leader stressed that the Tajik side had in advance withdrawn its troops to the Kyrgyz border and attacked the border and civilian facilities and settlements on the Kyrgyz territory, using its armed forces and heavy military equipment. He stressed that the military actions took place on Kyrgyz territory.

In turn, the president of Switzerland stressed his intention to strengthen and further develop the already good bilateral relations.

During the conversation, Ignasio Cassis expressed condolences over human casualties as result of Kyrgyz-Tajik conflict on border.

He also thanked for the detailed information about the cooperation of Central Asian countries.
