Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will launch car production at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz plant in Chui Oblast of Kyrgyzstan via video link from Tashkent, Rustam Bekchanov, Director of UzAuto Department said at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz business forum in Tashkent the previous day.
He noted that the official opening ceremony of the automobile plant will be held within the framework of the state visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan on July 18-19.
"On the first stage, it is planned to produce three models - Cobalt, Onix and Tracker, but in the future the lineup will be expanded. The plant has already shipped a pilot batch of cars totaling USD 711 thousand. By the end of July, it is planned to ship 28 cars worth USD 336 thousand," said Bekchanov.
In March 2023, DT Technik LLC and NUR OJSC (KR), as well as Uzavtosanoat (RUz) signed a cooperation agreement on the organization of production of automotive and commercial vehicles in Chui Oblast, which is planned to be implemented in three stages, and within 6 years to bring the production of cars to 30 thousand units, to create more than 2 thousand jobs for citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
