Bishkek, March 1 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zheenbekov is participating today, March 1 in Islamabad Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the 13th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). He delivered a speech at this summit, the Kyrgyz government’s press service reports.
The summit participants - delegates of the participating countries: Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will exchange views on enhancing regional cooperation in priority areas and discuss a number of topical issues. Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are represented by presidents of these countries.
At today's summit the ECO chairmanship passed from Azerbaijan to Pakistan. The Islamabad Declaration will be adopted as a result of the Summit.
The Kyrgyz delegation headed by Prime Minister Zheenbekov arrived in Islamabad yesterday, 28 February. The delegation includes Minister of Economy Arzybek Kozhoshev, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the ECO, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Islamic Republic of Iran Avazbek Abdurazakov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Erik Beishembiev, Head of Department of International Cooperation of the Government’s Office Aibek Aidarbekov, Deputy Foreign Minister Azamat Usenov, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Mining Kuban Myrzakanov.
ECO was founded in 1985 and is the successor organization of Regional Cooperation and Development. Kyrgyzstan joined the Organization in 1992.
