Prime Minister's report on situation at Kyrgyz-Tajik border to be considered behind closed doors

Bishkek, Apr. 3, 2019. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz Parliament have decided to consider a report by Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev on the situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

After a brief discussion, it was decided to hear the report of two deputies who visited the region, and then to hold a meeting behind closed doors.

At the last meeting, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) demanded that the Prime Minister personally report on the situation at the border with Tajikistan. But at that time, the head of government was on a business trip and was not able to attend the meeting.

On March 13, 2019, a conflict occurred in Kozhogar area at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border between residents of Aksai village, Batken region, Kyrgyzstan, and of Mekhnatabad village of Tajikistan. The cause of the conflict was the construction of the Aksai-Tamdyk bypass road. About 70 Tajik citizens and 50 Kyrgyzstanis began throwing stones at each other during the conflict.

Afterwards the citizens of Kyrgyzstan blocked the road in Aksay, and the citizens of Tajikistan closed the road of the area of Tort-Kocho.

Today the situation on the site is stable.
