Bishkek, Mar. 26, 2019. /Kabar/. Prisoners in Kyrgyzstan do not have access to the latest anti-TB medications, Director of the National Center for Phthisiology Abdullaat Kadyrov told at the round table "It's Time to End TB," timed to coincide with the World Tuberculosis Day.
He said that he was Colony No. 31, where 8 citizens serving their sentence refused treatment. “Previously, they had undergone treatment according to the standard method, but it did not give effect. The Ministry of Health sent a letter to the State Service for Execution of Punishments to begin treating prisoners with tuberculosis with the latest medications,” Kadyrov said.
He also appealed to WHO representatives to support and assist in resolving this issue.
