The prisoners of the colony No. 19 in the village of Zhany-Zher in Sokuluk region, where the persons sentenced to life imprisonment are kept, stopped the hunger strike on June 29, head of the press service of the State Service for Punishments Execution of Kyrgyzstan Eleonora Sabatarova reported.
She said that 13 prisoners of the colony declared a hunger strike on June 27, expressing dissatisfaction with the conditions of detention. The explanatory work was conducted with them and they recognized the groundlessness of the previously presented requirements.
"All 13 convicts, who declared a hunger strike, officially refused from the action and started eating," the report said.
Sabatarova explained that earlier the prisoners could freely move around the territory in the colony, now they will be kept in cells, and this caused a protest.
