Bishkek, Nov. 6, 2021 / Kabar /. Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria Michael Linhart visited Kyrgyzstan on Nov. 4 - 6, 2021 to participate in the First EU-CA Economic Forum, which took place on Nov. 5, 2021 in Bishkek, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Within the framework of the visit, he also met with President Sadyr Zhaparov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Investments Ruslan Kazakbaev.
During the meeting with Linhart, Kazakbaev thanked him for participating in the First EU-CA Economic Forum, expressed hope that in the future this platform will become a permanent mechanism of economic interaction of the CA and EU countries with their Secretariat.
The sides discussed the holding of joint events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Austria next year. The Kyrgyz side offered the Austrian side to jointly develop a Roadmap in all areas of cooperation, organize mutual visits at the highest and high levels, hold scientific and practical conferences, Days of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic in Austria, Austria in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Minister Kazakbaev noted that Kyrgyzstan is interested in further expanding and strengthening trade and economic cooperation with Austria. In particular, the sides agreed to continue work within the framework of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Austrian Commission on Economic Cooperation. Kazakbaev proposed to hold the next 8th meeting of the Commission in 2022 in Kyrgyzstan.
He also indicated the interest of the Kyrgyz side in attracting the experience of Austria, advanced technologies, know-how in healthcare, education, agriculture, hydropower, renewable energy, transport, mechanical engineering, digitalization, tourism. The Austrian side was invited to consider the possibility of setting up joint ventures on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, during the meeting, the issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Austria were also discussed. The two ministers outlined the importance of strengthening interaction in the field of education, in particular, interaction between universities of Kyrgyzstan and Austria, and also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of secondary education.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Austria within the framework of international organizations.
Within the framework of the visit of the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, representatives of 16 Austrian companies also arrived in Kyrgyzstan, which took part in the business forum "Business partnership between the European Union and Central Asian countries", held B2B meetings with business partners of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Following the talks between Kazakbaev and Linhart, a Cooperation Program was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria for 2022-2023.
