Bishkek, Nov. 17, 2021 / Kabar /. Projects to support low-income families were discussed by Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration Kudaibergen Bazarbaev with UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Ozonnia Ozhielo.
The Ministry of Social Security said that Kudaibergen Bazarbaev informed about the work carried out by the department to support various social groups, including low-income families. He proposed to develop projects to support low-income families and other vulnerable groups of the population through the UN Agricultural Organization.
The minister noted that such projects will increase production and increase incomes of low-income families, improve their food security. Particular attention was paid to improving the quality of life in border villages.
“Projects should be comprehensive, not only providing social support, but also providing agricultural resources, increasing agricultural production, creating jobs and conditions for training and retraining. We should not give fish, but a fishing rod. The social contract program, according to which low-income families can receive funds to open a small business or increase the efficiency of subsidiary farming, should be stepped up,” he said.
The UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, in turn, spoke about the work on five project proposals that can be financed under the UN Peacebuilding Fund in the coming years. The UN, together with the government, will continue to work to build trust between different social groups, and improve interaction between the population and the state.
