Bishkek, Dec.5, 2024. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov held a meeting with Vice President of the European Investment Bank Kiriakos Kakuris.
The head of the Cabinet noted the long-term strategic partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB), expressing gratitude for the support in the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the sustainable development of the country.
Akylbek Zhaparov emphasized that positive growth dynamics are developing in all sectors of the economy and focused on the country's priority infrastructure projects.
"Today, the development of the hydropower potential of the Kyrgyz Republic is 13%. This highlights the huge untapped potential of our country in the transition to clean energy sources, which is fully consistent with our desire for sustainable and environmentally friendly development. The experience of the successful implementation of the CASA-1000 project demonstrates the ability of international financial institutions to consolidate their efforts and achieve significant results.
This positive experience will be useful in the implementation of the largest energy project in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan - the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1. Given the strategic importance of this project for the development of the energy sector, reducing dependence on electricity imports and ensuring an environmentally friendly future, we invite you to actively cooperate and jointly implement the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1," he said.
During the meeting, it was noted that the main minerals of Kyrgyzstan are gold, tin, mercury, antimony, rare earth metals, tungsten, coal and others. Gold reserves are of particular economic importance.
The prospects for the construction of logistics centers for storing agricultural products, the implementation of projects in the field of transport, tourism and digitalization were also touched upon.
In turn, Vice President of the European Investment Bank Kiriakos Kakouris expressed readiness for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic in priority areas.
He emphasized that the European Investment Bank highly values large-scale regional projects such as the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 and projects in the field of transport.
