Bishkek, Oct.1, 2019. /Kabar/. By the end of 2018, law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan identified 1 thousand 424 drug-related crimes, Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic Otkurbek Dzhamshitov said during the meeting of prosecutors general of the SCO member states, held in Bishkek.
He noted more than 16 tons of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors had been seized from trafficking.
The Prosecutor General said 15 special operations were carried out jointly within the SCO.
“On Apr. 25, 2019, the 9th Meeting of the Heads of the Competent Authorities of the SCO member states with the authority to combat illicit drug trafficking was held in Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan.
“Practical mechanisms and legislative norms in the organization and conduct of controlled deliveries and undercover operations to counteract illicit drug trafficking and organized crime” international conference was held on June 18-19 this year, under the aegis of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the assistance of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime,” Dzhamshitov said.
“An important task in this area is to further strengthen the international legal framework for cooperation between law enforcement agencies, including the prosecution services of our states, through the conclusion or further implementation of agreements that have already been concluded at the multilateral or bilateral levels,” he concluded.
