Bishkek, Mar.9, 2020./Kabar/. The Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan found the ban on demonstrations in the center of Bishkek until July 1 illegal and groundless, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office said on Monday.
According to Article 34 of the Constitution, "everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly”.
Prosecutor's Offices of Pervomaiski, Lenin and Oktyabr Districts made a recommendations to the decisions of district courts to limit rallies and peaceful assemblies, the Bishkek Prosecutor's Office protested against the cancellation of the decision of the Mayor's Office.
"A ban on assemblies may be imposed when the assembly has unlawful purposes, including propaganda for war, advocacy of ethnic, racial or religious hatred, gender or other social superiority that constitutes incitement and discrimination, hostility or violence, calls to violate national security, public order, or the rights and freedoms of others; holding counter-meetings to disrupt another meetings", the report says.
Earlier, Pervomaiski, Lenin and Oktyabr district administrations filed an application with the court to ban any rallies and marches to prevent the spread of coronavirus and mass riots. The lawsuits were satisfied by the courts.
The restriction on the demonstrations also affected the march against violence regarding against women and children, planned by the activists on Mar.8.
