Prospects for strengthening contacts between TURKSOY and UNESCO discussed in Paris

Bishkek, Sept. 12, 2020. /Kabar/. General Secretary of the International Organization of Turkic Culture, TURKSOY, Duisen Kaseinov took part in the eighth session of the General Assembly of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Paris on Sept. 8-10, 2020.

The event, attended by representatives of more than 100 countries, considered the possibility of improving the overall efforts of states, international and non-governmental organizations to preserve, transmit and promote the living heritage of the peoples of the world.

In the framework of the General Assembly, Duisen Kaseinov met with Ernesto Ottone Ramírez, the Assistant Director-General for Culture of UNESCO, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen contacts between the two organizations and mutual support in implementing important initiatives and projects in the field of culture and art, protection of tangible and intangible heritage of Turkic-speaking countries.

The TURKSOY head also held consultations with President of the UNESCO General Conference Ahmet Altay Cengizer, and representatives of the Turkic-speaking states of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan at UNESCO on joint activities at the headquarters of the international organization in Paris.

Within the framework of the meeting, Kaseinov handed over to Azamat Kadyraliyev, Charge d'Affaires of the Kyrgyz Republic in France and to UNESCO, an art-album recently published by the Organization from the work of artists of Turkic-speaking countries, inspired by outstanding writer of our time Chyngyz Aitmatov.
