Bishkek, Aug. 25, 2020. /Kabar/. The Eurasians – New Wave Foundation, the Association of Volunteer Centers and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) have rendered assistance to Kyrgyzstan’s health-care facilties in combating COVID-19.
The humanitarian cargo consisting of medicines and personal protective equipment (protective suits, disposable masks, respirators, etc.) was distributed among territorial hospitals in Issyk-Kul and Chui Oblasts.
The cost of the assistance provided is over RUB 500 thousand.
"When we saw how quickly the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread in fraternal Kyrgyzstan, we could not stand aside and immediately began to raise funds to purchase the necessary protective equipment and medicines. Difficulties with border closures did not allow us to transfer aid in the midst of the epidemic, but I hope that even now it will be useful to those who are fighting for the life and health of the people of Kyrgyzstan," said Yuri Anufriev, the President of the Eurasians - New Wave Foundation.
Russia has been providing substantial assistance to Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the pandemic. Back in February, Russia was the first foreign country to send humanitarian cargo with COVID-19 diagnostic test systems to the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. Since then, the Russian side has been delivering PCR-tests, reagents, PPE and medical equipment on a regular basis.
In early July a group of specialists from Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare ) and the Ministry of Health visited the republic. After that, about 70 Russian doctors arrived in Kyrgyzstan, who for a month helped their Kyrgyz colleagues to fight against COVID-19.
