Bishkek, June 20, 2020. /Kabar/. The Government of Kyrgyzstan, calling for "spending the weekend with family," has decided to stop public transport in Bishkek on weekend, Prime Minister of the republic Kubatbek Boronov said at a briefing.
He said the number of people contracted coronavirus is increasing every day, and the Republican Headquarters (the Republican Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus in Kyrgyzstan) is making changes to the rules.
"Public transport remains one of the main sources of infection. Therefore, on Saturday afternoon it will be suspended and will be resumed on Monday. We hope this will protect against the spread of coronavirus," he said.
The head of the government noted that, despite the fines, sanitary norms are not observed.
"The Government with an appeal "spend a weekend with family" has adopted such a decision. I hope the citizens and guests of Bishkek will understand this situation, " he concluded.
Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry reported on Saturday record number of new COVID-19 cases - 192, bringing the total number of infections to 2981.
Another 3 deaths related to the novel coronavirus have been registered, 35 in total.
