PWD rights and infrastructure creation for them discussed in Bishkek

Bishkek, Apr. 12, 2019. / Kabar /. A round table is held in Bishkek to discuss the draft plan of priority measures to implement the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) for 2019-2022 and the Action Plan (roadmap) to optimize the system for assessing disability and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the Ministry of Social Development reported.

The round table was attended by representatives of government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, who generally supported the concept of these action plans.

“The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2018 analyzed the norms of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and prepared draft laws and regulations necessary to implement the Convention, as well as the ratification process,” said Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development Zhanyl Alybayeva.

She noted that in the coming years it is necessary to develop and approve a plan of priority measures to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, develop and approve the Accessible Country program aimed at eliminating PWD discrimination in various spheres of public life and creating affordable infrastructure in cities, regions and villages of the country.
