Bishkek, Jan. 9, 2018. / Kabar /. Ala-Too Ayimdary (Women of Ala-Too), the women's movement of Kyrgyzstan named Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain the Person of the Year – 2017, chairwoman of the Ala-Too Ayimdary Public Ecological Movement Zhypargul Bargibaeva told during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
She said that, every year honorary members of the movement from 7 oblasts of the country nominate the most worthy individuals for Person of the Year. Thus, within the Year of Morality, Education and Culture, a reporting ceremony was held on Dec. 23, 2017 under the motto "Woman will save the world," where Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, was declared the Person of the Year.
"Every year we hold various events, and from 2014 we identify people who contributed to the preservation of peace. We understand that Person of the Year we could recognize any person from Kyrgyzstan, but we decided to show that we are friends with other countries. The Queen is already 91, but, despite her advanced age, she still rules, contributes. The statuette will be handed over to the Queen through the Embassy," Bargibaeva said.
She added that in 2014, the Person of the Year was former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev, in 2015 ex-speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Asylbek Zheenbekov. In 2016 the award was presented President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
"We handed the statuette to the Russian President through the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, we received a response letter with a gratitude for such a high award. We also received a lot of positive feedback in social networks, where people living and working in Russia expressed their gratitude for the rapprochement of peoples," Bargibaeva said.
President of Mongu public environmental fund Urustem Kabylbekov told what factors the Queen of Great Britain was recognized as Person of the Year.
"The first category, according to which Elizabeth II was chosen, is the proof of the unlimited man's ability over time, despite her advanced age. The second category, this is fair and fruitful ruling the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for 65 years. And of course she is a worthy politician, a fair ruler of her nation, beloved grandmother of her grandchildren, a loving mother of her children, a worthy spouse of the family, responsive daughter of her parents," Kabylbekov said.
Ala-Too Ayimdary ecological movement public association was founded in 2010. The movement calls for peace, friendship and harmony among the peoples of the world under the motto "A woman will save the world".
