Osh, Nov. 3, 2018. /Kabar/. Rangers and employees of Alatay State Natural Park of Toktogul region of Jalal-Abad oblast were supplied with modern equipment and work wear.
The handover ceremony took place on Friday, November 2, with the participation of Mambetaliev, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) department Seydaliyev, the First Deputy Governor of Toktogul region and UNDP staff in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Alatay rangers were given computers, laptops, walkie-talkies, cameras, GPS equipment, binoculars and field scopes. To facilitate work in the field, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, sleeping mats and flashlights were also given to the rangers. And in order to make it easier for them to travel around the mountainous areas of the park, riding horses with sets of harnesses were purchased for the rangers. When choosing horses, first of all, their level of adaptation to mountain conditions was taken into account.
Uniforms and equipment were transferred within the framework of the UNDP-GEF Project “Conservation of Globally Important Biodiversity and Association Land and Forest Resources of Western Tian Shan Forest Mountain Ecosystems and Support to Sustainable Livelihoods”, funded by the GEF with the aim of providing technical assistance and support to Alatay State Natural Park.
Alatay State Natural Park is located in Toktogul region of Jalal-Abad oblast. It was established in January 2016 by a decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to preserve unique natural complexes, the biological diversity of the region and protect the Red Book representatives of flora and fauna, including the snow leopard. The park area is 56.8 thousand hectares.
