Recently appointed Kyrgyz Parliament speaker steps down

Bishkek, Oct. 10, 2020 / Kabar /. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Myktybek Abdyldaev, has resigned. He said this during an extraordinary meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.

He noted that the meeting will be chaired by Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Mirlan Bakirov.

Myktybek Abdyldaev has been elected as a speaker on Oct. 6, 2020 replacing Dastan Dzhumabekov, who resigned amid protests in Bishkek.

The protest actions have started in Bishkek on Monday after the parliamentary elections, which was held on Sunday. Some parties which failed to meet the voting threshold organized protest actions demanding to annul the election results.

The Central Election Commission annulled the results of the parliamentary elections on Oct.
