Bishkek, Sept. 30, 2024. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan announced a record harvest of grain crops, vegetables and melons this year.
Thus, grain crops have been harvested on an area of 535,000 hectares, which is 80.1% of the total area, 112,600 hectares more than last year.
Wheat was harvested on the area of 233.5 thousand hectares (97.1%), which is 47.9 thousand hectares more compared to last year. Especially high yields are observed in Jalal-Abad, Talas and Chui Oblasts, where yields are 30.0-33 c/ha. Gross harvest amounted to 674.0 thousand tons, which is 234.4 thousand tons more compared to last year.
Barley was harvested on the area of 237.7 thousand hectares (94.8%), which is 47.0 thousand hectares more compared to last year. Gross harvest is 620.2 thousand tons, which is 192.2 thousand tons more compared to last year. The highest barley yield was recorded in Chui Oblast - 29.5 c/ha.
Corn (for grain) was harvested on the area of 30.1 thousand hectares (27.4%). Gross harvest amounted to 219.4 thousand tons, which is 31.8 thousand tons more than in 2023. The highest yield was recorded in Osh Oblast - 85.6 c/ha.
Grain legumes were harvested on the area of 30.6 thousand hectares (57.4%). Gross harvest is 43.9 thousand tons, which is 21.1 thousand tons more compared to 2023. The highest yield was recorded in Talas Oblast - 14.3 c/ha.
Potatoes were harvested from 30.5 thousand hectares (46%). Gross harvest is 520.6 thousand tons, which is 51.8 thousand tons more than last year. In Issyk-Kul and Chui Oblasts the yield is 181-183 c/ha.
Gross harvest of vegetables is 864.0 thousand tons, which is 87.2 thousand tons more compared to 2023. Gross harvest of melons is 265.1 thousand tons, which is 65.9 thousand tons higher compared to last year.
Harvesting of oilseeds was carried out on the area of 9.7 thousand hectares, yield is 11.7 c/ha, which is 0.5 thousand hectares more compared to last year. Gross harvest is 11.6 thousand tons, which is 1.7 thousand tons more compared to last year.
As for sugar beet, it was harvested from 1.5 thousand hectares. The average yield is 673.3 c/ha, which is 186.2 c/ha higher than in 2023. Gross harvest is 101.0 thousand tons, which is 66.9 thousand tons more than last year. This year the yield of this crop is at a high level.
