Record increase in coronavirus cases registered in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Jan. 17, 2022 . / Kabar /. 1,037 cases of coronavirus were officially registered in Uzbekistan on Sunday, the press service of the republic’s Ministry of Health said.

The total number of cases of coronavirus exceeded 206.1 thousand. 3 new virus-related deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 1,518.

The report said that the increase in the incidence in recent days is of great concern to the population. Although highly contagious, most cases have mild symptoms and mostly respiratory signs, so residents are urged not to panic, observe quarantine regulations and get the COVID-19 vaccine.

This is the highest rate since the pandemic began in March 2020. The previous peak was recorded on Aug. 5, 2021, with 974 cases.
