Red Crescent of Kyrgyzstan provides assistance to evacuated residents on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

Bishkek, Jan. 10, 2020. / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz Red Crescent Disaster Response Team provides assistance to residents of Batken Oblast, who were evacuated as a result of conflict on the kyrgyz-Tajik border, press secretary of the Red Crescent of Kyrgyzstan Begimai Asanova told.

“On January 10, around 08:00, the director of the Batken branch of the Red Crescent reported that the local department of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Kyrgyz Republic evacuated more than 230 people from the village of Kok-Tash (130 children and 100 women) to a local school in the same village. In addition, the local administration and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic asked us to provide support in providing hot meals for 300 people in the daytime and evening,” Asanova said.

At the moment, the Red Crescent Team has provided 300 residents with food, hot bread, hygiene kits (diapers) delivered to children. Psychosocial support is also provided to women and children.
