Bishkek, Jan. 6, 2021. /Kabar/. A referendum on the form of government will be valid if at least 30% of voters take part in it, Chairwoman of the Central Elections Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Shaildabekova said during a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Preparation and Conduct of Presidential Elections and Referendum.

She noted the identification of voters for the referendum will be similar to the presidential elections. The voter list is also unified with the list of voters for the presidential elections.

"If a voter wants to vote in a referendum, he or she will be given a ballot," Shaildabekova said.

The chairwoman added only that option which gains more than 50% of the vote will pass the referendum.

If one option fails to receive over 50% of the vote, the one that gets the most votes will be accepted. If the "against all" option gets the most votes, the referendum will be declared invalid.

Kyrgyzstan’s early presidential elections are set on Jan. 10, 2021, the referendum on the form of the government will be held the same day.

Citizens will offered to vote for “presidential” or “parliamentary” system of governance.
