Bishkek, Jan. 18, 2021. /Kabar/. The COVID-19 Emergency Response Project, funded by the World Bank, provided assistance to medical institutions in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Kyrgyz Emergency Ministry said on Monday.
As part of this assistance, territorial hospitals are equipped with medical equipment and provided with life-saving medicines and disinfectants. The aid was distributed to health care organizations according to the Distribution Plan of the Ministry of Health of the republic.
The goal of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project is to assist the Kyrgyz Government in strengthening its capacity to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing appropriate preventive measures, procurement of essential medicines, supplies and equipment, minimization of risks for frontline health workers.
The Project implementation began in June 2020. To date, the total amount of care provided is $1 million 641 thousand 972.
"Now we are actively using ventilators and BiPAP machines depending on the condition of patients. The aid came in very timely. We are pleased to work with new, modern equipment," Nurdin Almerekov, the head of the intensive care unit at the Republican Clinical Hospital said.
The next batch of aid is scheduled to arrive in January and February of this year. Supply of ventilators, high-flow oxygen therapy devices, X-ray machines and functional beds is planned.
In the framework of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project, repair work is also planned in the infectious disease departments of 9 hospitals across the country.
