Bishkek, July 11, 2021 . / Kabar / . A repeat local council elections has started at 8:00 a.m. in the cities of Bishkek and Osh and Tokmok town.
Voting will last from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Deputy chairman of the Central Elections Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic Tynchtykbek Shainazarov said at a briefing that there are 617,517 voters in the three cities, including 426,699 in Bishkek, 152,718 in Osh and 38,100 in Tokmok.
18 parties participate in the elections to the Bishkek City Council.
9 parties are running for Osh City Council.
6 parties participate in the elections to Tokmok City Council.
"As everyone knows, the vote will be a party one. Those parties that get above 7%, can participate in the distribution of mandates," he said.
A total of 2,204 candidates are running in the repeat elections.
"All polling stations are equipped with the necessary technology, including automatic ballot boxes," Shainazarov added.
611,071 ballots were produced in total, including 326,000 in Braille.
3,111 people voted on July 10.
The elections to local councils were held on April 11, 2021. But due to numerous violations in three cities, the election results were cancelled and re-scheduled.
