Representatives of Kyrgyz and Afghanistan MFA discuss combating religious extremism and international terrorism

Bishkek, July 3, 2021. / Kabar /. Wthin the framework of the European Union - Central Asia - Afghanistan High-Level Dialogue on Political and Security Issues, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev met with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mirwais Nab.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that during the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the field of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the fight against religious extremism, international terrorism and drug trafficking, as well as the need to adopt a Joint Plan for bilateral cooperation.

Niyazaliev stressed the importance of maintaining stability in the border regions of Afghanistan in ensuring security in the region and expressed the readiness of the Kyrgyz Republic to make every effort to advance the inter-Afghan reconciliation process.

Also Niyazaliev thanked his counterpart and the government of Afghanistan in his person for the measures taken by the Afghan side to improve the situation of ethnic Kyrgyz, in particular for the construction of a road in the Small Pamir of Afghanistan, and expressed hope for further assistance to the government of the Kyrgyz Republic in delivering humanitarian aid to them.

Deputy Minister Mirwais Nab expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for the support provided to the IRA government in promoting the inter-Afghan peace process. He also stressed that Afghanistan strives for peace, stability and strengthening of regional security, noting that with the assistance of fraternal and friendly states, the Afghan people will be able to achieve peace and prosperity.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to make efforts to strengthen bilateral Kyrgyz-Afghan relations.
