Bishkek, Mar. 18, 2019. /Kabar/. The German Hall of Alykul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan was visited by Director of the Goethe-Institut in Moscow, head in Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, Dr. Heike Uhlig and Director of the Goethe-Institut Kazakhstan Eva Schmitt.
As part of the visit to the hall, a meeting was held with library Director Jyldyz Bakashova. The sides discussed prospects for the development of cooperation. Bakashova acquainted the guests with the work of the department of foreign literature, spoke about other cultural centers of the library, plans and projects and expressed a wish for further cooperation.
The National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic has been fruitfully cooperating with the Goethe-Institut for many years since 1998. Over the years, the collection of the German Hall has grown to 4,028 documents and represents an extensive collection of reference and periodicals.
Various events, author readings and meetings with famous writers from Germany, such as Trojanow, Fridolin Shlei, poet and bard Maas, etc. are held in the hall. Informational events are organized on the educational program “Study in Germany” for students of Bishkek and learners of German. Employees of the German library hall were trained at seminars in Germany at the invitation of Goethe-Institut. All these events are held with the active support of the Goethe-Institut in Almaty.
The German Hall is the only information center in Bishkek that provides users with up-to-date information about Germany.
