Representatives of Kyrgyzstan participate in conference on EU-Central Asia cooperation in fields of environment in Tashkent

Tashkent, Jan. 24, 2019. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz delegation headed by Deputy Director of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic Arsen Ryspekov is taking part in the 6th high-level conference on “EU-Central Asia Strategy for a New Partnership: Platform for Environment and Water Cooperation” in Tashkent, the correspondent of Kabar reported from the venue of the event.

The Kyrgyz delegation included Asel Raimkulova, Chief Specialist of the Department of Ecological Expertise and Natural Resources Management under the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Head of the Department of Water Management and Melioration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Melioration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Sulaimanov, specialist of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic Aizal Kyiazova, Counselor of the Kyrgyz Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan Kemel Sadykov.

In the opening ceremony, the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Ambassador Peter Burian noted that the cooperation between the EU and Central Asian partners is strengthening in all areas.

“The EU and partners in Central Asia need to build relationships based on new dynamics and regional cooperation, and expand joint efforts to jointly address common challenges for the region, such as sustainable and transboundary water management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, improved environmental management activities and transition to a closed-loop economy. To this end, the EU is ready to share its experience and advanced technologies,” he stressed.

During the two-day conference, participants will report on their achievements and results since the last High-Level Conference in 2015 in Milan and discuss the results of activities under the Platform for Environment and Water Cooperation since 2015, as well as discuss and agree on an action plan Working Group on Environment and Climate Change for 2019 and 2021.

The conference will last until January 25 of this year.
