Representatives of Kyrgyzstan take part in conference on judicial protection in Tashkent

Tashkent, Oct. 19, 2018. /Kabar/. Judge of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurgul Bakirova and Vice Rector for International Affairs of Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Ph.D. in Law, Professor Leila Sydykova attended Thursday the international conference on “Ensuring Judicial Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in the SCO Region”, a Kabar correspondent reported from the venue.

The participants discussed the main directions of ongoing reforms in the field of judicial protection of human rights and interests, mechanisms for ensuring the rule of law, as well as issues of further improving judicial systems in the SCO area and with UN standards.

Bakirova told that the participants exchanged experience, learned about the ongoing reforms in this area, the principle of the rule of law is fundamental, because only with its observance the full development of society, economy and political institutions is possible.

“Each country has its own specificity in the work of the courts and the judicial system. At the same time, ensuring the rule of law is an essential function of the judicial system of each country. For example, I made a report on new forms in legal proceedings in the Kyrgyz Republic. In particular, I said that new codes are being introduced in our country, such as the criminal code, the criminal procedure code, the code of misdemeanors and the code of violations. With the adoption of these codes, I think that human rights are being further protected. The political will of the leadership of our state, above all President Sooranbay Jeenbekov, has allowed us to speed up this process,” she noted.

“Today, in the SCO area, everyone is united by a guideline to maintain international standards in the field of protecting the rights and interests of an individual and citizen, protecting public institutions and private property. These factors are becoming the basis for stable and active interstate relations,” the Kyrgyz judge added.

The conference was organized just before the upcoming Asian Forum on Human Rights and dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was also attended by judges and staff of the Supreme Courts of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, representatives of the embassies of India, China, Pakistan in Tashkent, the Executive Committee of the Regional Antiterrorist Structure of the SCO and the UN Development Program.
