Bishkek, Nov. 25, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Boxing Championship among men and women has begun today in the Palace of Sports in Bishkek city, the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the republic reported Wednesday.
120 boxers from all regions of the republic are taking part in the championship. The competitions are held in 10 (49, 52, 57, 60, 63, 69, 75, 81, 91 kg) weight categories among men and 4 (51, 57, 60, 69 kg) among women.
Director of the Olympic Sports Directorate Zhomart Shamkanov, President of the National Boxing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdybek Khalmurzayev, USSR boxing champion, seven-time world champion among professionals Orzubek Nazarov made welcoming speeches at the opening ceremony of the championship.
"Dear friends, I want to congratulate you on the beginning of another boxing championship of Kyrgyzstan. This championship is considered a selection for our boxers at the Olympic Games, so I ask the judges of justice, we believe that the strongest athletes will win. I wish coaches to work tirelessly, and the participants good luck," Zhomart Shamkanov said.
The championship of the republic will come to the end on Nov. 28. Due to the epidemiological situation in the country, the sporting event is held without spectators. All comers and amateurs of boxing can watch bouts live on KTRK Sport TV channel.
