Republican HQ on COVID-19 calls on Kyrgyzstanis to wear masks in public places

Bishkek, Sept. 22, 2020. /Kabar/. In public places citizens should obligatory observe a mask regime and other measures, aimed at providing sanitary and epidemiological safety measures. This was announced at a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Combating of COVID-19, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported Tuesday.

During the meeting it was noted that a number of countries of near and far abroad are facing increase in cases of coronavirus infection. Given the current situation in the world, the national health care system and other state bodies should be prepared for a possible increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection.

First Deputy Prime Minister Almazbek Baatyrbekov stated that relevant bodies and heads of local authorities should strengthen explanatory work at the local level and strengthen the work on observance of mask regime in crowded places, including supermarkets, markets, shopping centers, public transport.

Members of the Republican HQ noted that shopping malls, supermarkets and entertainment facilities should install thermal imaging cameras, sanitary equipment and require visitors to wear masks. Governors and heads of regions were instructed to organize regular disinfection of shopping malls and markets.

Representatives of the country’s Health Ministry reminded that the coronavirus has a high contagiousness, urging Kyrgyz citizens to think about their health and to wear masks, keep a social distance, and use sanitary equipment.

The meeting participants also discussed the possibility of applying the experience of other states regarding the mandatory wearing of masks in public places and the impact of administrative measures on this issue.

As a result of the meeting, Baatyrbekov gave a number of instructions to relevant state bodies, including the Ministry of Health to study the experience of countries near and far abroad in combating coronavirus and measures to improve the epidemiological situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

As of today, a total of 45 thousand 542 cases of infection have been registered throughout Kyrgyzstan, including 41 thousand 796 recoveries. The death toll from COVID-19 stands at 1 thousand 63.
