Bishkek, July 28, 2021. / Kabar / . A significant rise in crimes is observed in Kyrgyzstan, the National Statistics Committee of the republic said.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office, 23.5 thousand crimes were registered in January-June 2021, which increased by 1.5 times compared to January-June 2020, as well as about 12 thousand misdemeanors (almost 30% more) on the territory of the country.
Out of the total number of crimes, over 2 thousand, or 11.6% were grave and especially grave crimes. The main part of such crimes were crimes against property.
The number of crimes against persons across the republic as a whole has increased by almost a third in comparison with January-June last year. Meanwhile, the number of murders increased by 26%, rapes and attempted rapes by 34%, infliction of less serious harm to health by 6%.
During the first six months of this year, compared with the same period last year, the number of abuses of official position increased by 36%, cases of misappropriation and embezzlement of entrusted property - 2.2 times and bribery - 1.4 times.
The number of crimes related to illicit drug trafficking increased significantly (by 23%). The largest share of such crimes (more than 57%) is related to possession of drugs for the purpose of their sale and about 40% to possession of drugs without the purpose of their sale.
The largest increase in the number of crimes was noted in Issyk-Kul Oblast (2.4 times), Osh city (1.7 times), Osh Oblast (1.5 times) and Bishkek city (1.4 times).
In the first half of this year, more than 13 thousand people who committed crimes were detected, which is 15.6% more compared to the corresponding last year.
