Roman Kim from Kyrgyzstan earns bronze at Asian Greco-Roman wrestling championships

Bishkek, April 20, 2022 . / Kabar /. Wrestler from Kyrgyzstan Roman Kim won a bronze medal at the Asian Greco-Roman wrestling championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia held on April 19-24.

The Kyrgyz wrestler competed in the 130kg weight class. He lost in the quarter-finals to Kazakhstan's Alimkhan Syzdykov. With his opponent advancing to the finals, Roman Kim had a chance to compete for bronze.

In the third-place bout, the Kyrgyzstani had to face Japan's Arata Sonoda. However, the Japanese did not appear on the mat for unknown reasons. In this regard, the victory was awarded to Roman Kim.

Kyrgyzstan’s Akzhol Makhmudov (77 kg) has become two-time Asian champion.

Another Kyrgyz wrestler Tynar Sharshenbekov (63 kg) won gold medal.

A total of 21 wrestlers represented Kyrgyzstan at the international competition in Mongolia.
