Russia ready to assist Kyrgyzstan in its chairmanship in SCO

Bishkek, June 6, 2018 / Kabar /. Russia is ready to support Kyrgyzstan in fulfilling the mission of the chairman in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and is actively preparing for the SCO and BRICS summits in 2020 in Chelyabinsk, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov told reporters.

"The Russian side highly appreciates the work done by China during its chairmanship to prepare and hold the SCO summit," Ushakov said, recalling that further chairmanship in the organization will be transferred to Kyrgyzstan.

"Russia is ready to render full support to the Kyrgyz partners in the fulfillment of this responsible mission," he added.

Ushakov also said that he recently visited Chelyabinsk, where, according to him, preparations for the SCO and BRICS summits intensified. "Chelyabinsk zealously took it, I think that everything will turn out," said the presidential aide.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a permanent intergovernmental international organization that was established on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai. Now the SCO member states are Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia have the status of an observer state with the SCO. India and Pakistan became full members of the SCO in 2017.

Kyrgyzstan will chair the SCO in 2018-2019.
